As a 7th-generation Kanab local, Rhees grew up immersed in the rugged beauty of Southern Utah. His childhood was filled with days exploring the dusty backroads and hidden wonders of this wild land, often alongside his dad and grandpa. Those early adventures planted the seed of a lifelong love for this extraordinary corner of the world.
But like many great stories, this one took a twist. Rhees found himself working a comfortable sales job in Las Vegas—a world away from the quiet charm of Kanab. Life was fast-paced and busy, yet something felt incomplete. The call of home grew louder, and with it, the dream of sharing the land he loved with others.
In 2020, Rhees took a leap of faith. He left the security of his job, packed up his family, and returned to Kanab. It wasn’t just about coming home; it was about creating something meaningful. Expedition Kanab was born out of a desire to reconnect with his roots, to raise his family in the small-town atmosphere he cherished, and to share the magic of Southern Utah with adventurers from all over.
From the very beginning, Expedition Kanab has been more than a tour company. It’s Rhees’s way of welcoming visitors into the story of Kanab—its breathtaking landscapes, its rich history, and its spirit of adventure. Whether it’s guiding guests to the awe-inspiring Great Chamber, the winding walls of Peekaboo Slot Canyon, or the quiet beauty of Coral Pink Sand Dunes, Rhees and his team are driven by one mission: to create unforgettable experiences that bring people closer—to nature, to history, and to each other.
