Your journey starts with a thrilling ride through Johnson Canyon, a filming location for Western classics like The Outlaw Josey Wales and Gunsmoke. Then, we’ll hike to the Great Chamber, a massive sand-filled cavern where you’ll capture the iconic photo that looks straight out of a dream. After soaking in the sweeping views, we’ll head deeper into the backcountry to find Inchworm Arch, a rare double white sandstone arch that few travelers ever see.


With no crowds, unbelievable scenery, and expert local guides, this half-day adventure is the perfect way to experience the wild, rugged beauty of Southern Utah.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How difficult is the hike to the Great Chamber?

    The hike is moderate, with a short but steep sandy incline leading to the top of the dune inside the Great Chamber. Our guides will take breaks as needed, and we adjust the pace to fit the group. The stunning views at the top make it 100% worth it!

  • Do we drive our own UTV?

    Yes! We expect guests to drive their own UTV and follow the guide unless otherwise requested. UTVs are booked per machine (1-2, 3-4, or 5-6 seats), and the tour is limited to three UTVs plus a guide (around 12 people total) for a small-group experience.

  • What should we bring?

    Wear closed-toe shoes (required for drivers) and comfortable hiking clothes. Bring sunglasses, sunscreen, water, and a camera—these are some of the most photogenic spots in Utah! Helmets and goggles are provided.

  • When and where does the tour start?

    Tours run Monday–Saturday (closed Sundays) and year-round, with start times adjusting based on the sunset. Meet at Expedition Kanab headquarters in central Kanab, and arrive 15 minutes early for check-in.

  • Can we make special requests?

    Absolutely! If you’d like a private tour, a special time, or have a unique request, give us a call—we’re happy to customize your adventure.
